Forum Title: need help with swinging door repair
i live in an old house and have one of those swinging doors between the kitchen and diningroom. the door will not stay open. and, when it closes, it does not close all the way. would someone please tell me how to solve this? thank you and kind regards.

It is doubtful you will find a 48 inch threshold insert. We have to cut them down from 72 ones all the time. You may want to consider attaching a feather or brush type sweep to the bottom of your doors. Once the doors are closed the sweeps rest against the threshold and keep the cold and heat out.

On a spring loaded hinged swinging door, you will probably find the hinge units need lubrication. Now, as for staying open, the detent on the hinge is probably worn. If you can remove one of the hinges, take it with you to either a good hardware store or to a big box to see if you can find a replacement (2).
