Forum Title: Door trim/casing with low ceiling
I'm in the middle of a basement finishing project and am realizing that my ceiling needs to be lowered in certain areas to hide the ductwork and plumbing. I'm going to have to lower the ceiling to 6'-9 1/2 in one spot where I have a door framed in. My first question is: What height do I frame the door with this ceiling height? I still have to add drywall to the ceiling which will drop it another 1/2. Should I frame the door at 6'-9 1/2? or should I go lower? My second question is: how do you fit trim around the top of the door and still make it look good? Has anyone had to do this before? Any pictures? Thanks for your help! -Kevin
